Club Champs Women’s Singles

Fourteen ladies took to the greens in hot, testing conditions for this year’s Club Champs Women’s Singles. Day 1 – four games, first to 21 points or two hours time limit – with three wins to qualify for the second day. After a demanding day, five players progressed to the semi‑finals: Ally Connery, Wendy Sarjeant, Val Tapp, Lynette White and Marie Reid.

The first playoff saw Val Tapp face Marie Reid, with Val securing the win to move into the main draw. She then met Ally Connery. Ally took control of the match and booked her place in the final.

The other semi-final between Wendy Sarjeant and Lynette White proved to be a nailbiter. Lynette surged ahead early, leading 12–2, but Wendy drew on her experience and composure to claw it back eventually winning the match on the final end.

The final between Wendy Sarjeant and Ally Connery was a great watch. Wendy got a jump on points and Ally had to dig deep to get back in contention. Wendy proved too strong on the day and took the championship 21 – 12. Congratulations to all the finalists.
